GOIN GREEN
Is my second solo show at Kerry Schuss.. the first one only ended a week ago. When it was over we installed some of these strips just to photograph them and then it kinda came together and looked good so we invited a few people to see it then Kerry said it looks good as show let’s keep it up a week. These strips were made the same way as that last piece Here Comes the Sun.. except the strips were outside my house in my yard exposed directly to the sun rain etc. There also on Kodak paper that’s why it turned Green instead of Red like Fuji paper. Those are the last two makers of light sensitive color photo paper. Ones warm and ones cool. The strips come from rolls of paper I was given in 2014 and finally did more with it. The paper was expired then so now it really is. I hold onto too much materials sometimes … I’m always thinking I could use it for something. The skinny strip is from 2012 it’s made same way out wrapped around the yard and pavement of my house. There was some earth on top of it pots and penny’s. It must have been exposed for less then month that’s why it’s so dark. The black green and blue ones in frames are from 2015 and there the last set of ‘Garden prints’ I made before I started back up last year. I stopped because the Camera Club where I worked was closing down its darkrooms and processors so I thought well that’s it’s for working that way and moved on to other things. These ones I also remember were only exposed to light for maybe less then 2 weeks that’s why it’s mostly black. I had develop them the day before we disassembled the color processors. The long horizontal strip was made basically during the entire duration of the last show. I laid it out the length of about front side of my house. I kinda lucked out with the snow falling so much cause that created this more camouflage pattern where different points of light reached through the snow and depending on where it melted on it or at least that’s as far as I understand what happened. So these are all versions of ‘garden prints’ is what I called them but there just unique c prints. The jar of weed I grew in yard three summers ago. I don’t smoke weed anymore but I like growing it and having lots to give away. The bench got moved to the hallway where it might stay and the photo hanging above it is a clip art photo printed as silver gelatin in 2019. I would take free clip art off the internet collage together print out and make transparency to use in darkroom as I projected one of my 35mm negatives down. Oh the other two prints of the Trees with my shadow were made in 2017 in darkroom on that same expired roll of paper. It’s a photo I took while camping Kill Bear Provincial Park in Ontario that summer. I tried to stretch out the paper in dark and some of light got my shadow trying to hold the paper down so I made a few more. I think that’s all the basic info of how I made this stuff. Thanks
