Pearl Blauvelt
These remarkable drawings were stashed n an abandoned house in rural Pennsylvania until the current owners– artists, as luck would have it– discovered them forty years after the reclusive Blauvelt (1893 - 1987) moved to a rest home. Rendered with a peculiar blend of delicacy and ferocity in colored pencil on lined notebook paper, the drawings show a so-called outsider artist yearning for the unseen. With imaginary X-ray vision Blauvelt reveals a world where knee bones are visible thorugh pants and a building's rear windows can be spied through the brick façade.
